21-Day Private Java Tour

This 21-day private tour takes you on an in-depth journey across Java, Indonesia.
You will travel at a relaxed pace with plenty of time to experience Javanese culture, nature, and traditions up close. The itinerary covers all corners of Java – from lesser-known West Java to the more visited East, from bustling Jakarta, the serene rice fields and national parks near Bogor, to the majestic Bromo and Ijen volcanoes, and colorful villages around Tumpak Sewu and Kalibaru. You’ll discover both iconic highlights and hidden gems, all within 21 days and accompanied by your personal guide.

Expect to encounter ancient temples, lively markets, artisan villages, spectacular waterfalls, and volcanic landscapes. This journey combines adventure, culture, and relaxation, while bringing you closer to local communities.


Itinerary

Below is the travel program. Please note: during the rainy season, the schedule may change — we visit Pangandaran instead of Karimunjawa.

Day 1 – Jakarta → Bogor

  • Arrival at Jakarta Airport, meet your private driver and English/Dutch-speaking guide.
  • Optional short city tour depending on arrival time, including the National Monument and colonial landmarks.
  • Transfer to Bogor and check in at Salak Boutique Hotel, a comfortable place to rest after your flight.

Day 2 – Bogor → Mount Salak National Park

  • Morning visit to the famous Bogor Botanical Garden, one of the oldest in Southeast Asia.
  • Explore traditional markets and villages for an authentic Javanese experience.
  • Excursion to a nearby waterfall and overnight stay at Salak Homestay.

Day 3 – Mount Salak area

  • Morning walk through the village and surrounding rice fields.
  • Visit a local primary school for cultural exchange.
  • Evening cooking class at the homestay: learn to prepare traditional Indonesian dishes.

Day 4 – Mount Salak → Bandung via Puncak Pass

  • Scenic drive to Bandung via the picturesque Puncak Pass, overlooking tea plantations.
  • Check in at Sukajadi Hotel, Bandung, with free time to explore the city.

Day 5 – Bandung surroundings

  • Visit Kawah Putih (White Crater), a stunning volcanic lake.
  • Walk across the Rengganis suspension bridge and explore nearby tea plantations.
  • Overnight stay at Sukajadi Hotel, Bandung.

Day 6 – Bandung → Wonosobo (by train)

  • Comfortable train journey from Bandung to Kutoarjo, then transfer to Wonosobo.
  • Visit Galerie Kresna to discover local arts, crafts, and traditions.

Day 7 – Wonosobo → Magelang

  • Day trip to the impressive Dieng Plateau with Telaga Warna and volcanic landscapes.
  • Enjoy panoramic views and learn about traditional village life.

Day 8 – Magelang → Yogyakarta

  • Visit the world-famous Borobudur and Prambanan temples, masterpieces of Javanese religious architecture.
  • Adventurous Merapi Jeep Tour on the volcanic slopes.
  • Overnight stay at Hotel Indah Palace, Yogyakarta.

Day 9 – Yogyakarta city tour

  • Travel by becak to the Sultan’s Palace (Kraton) to explore Javanese history.
  • Visit Fort Vredeburg, Beringharjo Market, and the colorful bird market.
  • Short demonstration of the ancient batik art.

Day 10 – Yogyakarta surroundings

  • Excursion to a local coffee plantation, with explanation of the unique civet coffee process.

Day 11 – Yogyakarta → Pangandaran / Karimunjawa

  • Rainy season: Early transfer to Pangandaran, a tropical coastal area in South Java. Enjoy beaches and fishing villages.
  • Dry season: Early transfer to Karimunjawa by boat or flight, including tropical beaches, snorkeling, and island excursions.
  • Overnight stay on location.

Day 12 – Pangandaran / Karimunjawa

  • Full day to explore: beaches, snorkeling, island hopping, and relaxation.
  • Second overnight stay.

Day 13 – Pangandaran / Karimunjawa → Semarang

  • Return to the mainland and transfer to Semarang.
  • Optional short city tour.
  • Overnight stay in Semarang.

Day 14 – Semarang → Malang

  • Transfer to Malang, with stops at local markets and traditional villages.
  • Overnight at Yanto Cottage, a countryside homestay.

Day 15 – Malang → Bromo

  • Drive to Cemoro Lawang, a mountain village on the edge of the Bromo volcano.
  • Overnight at Bromo Camphil Resort.

Day 16 – Bromo sunrise & surroundings

  • Early jeep tour around 02:30 AM to witness the world-famous sunrise over Bromo.
  • Explore the Bromo crater, the vast Sea of Sand, and the Teletubbies Hills.

Day 17 – Bromo → Tumpak Sewu

  • Hike to the breathtaking Tumpak Sewu waterfall, one of the most beautiful in Indonesia.
  • Visit Kampung Warna-Warni, a colorful village full of photo opportunities.
  • Overnight near Tumpak Sewu.

Day 18 – Tumpak Sewu → Kalibaru

  • Morning visit to Tumpak Sewu waterfall for more stunning views.
  • Transfer to Kalibaru. Overnight at Kalibaru Cottage, an authentic homestay among plantations.

Day 19 – Kalibaru surroundings

  • Guided visit to cocoa and coffee plantations in Glenmore.
  • Learn about the traditional processing of cacao and coffee.

Day 20 – Kalibaru → Banyuwangi / Ijen

  • Transfer to Banyuwangi with free time on arrival.
  • Midnight hike to Mount Ijen to witness the magical blue fire.
  • Overnight at The Sawah Resort, Banyuwangi.

Day 21 – Banyuwangi surroundings / end of tour

  • Easy walk through villages and rice fields.
  • Free time before transfer to the ferry or airport.
